  • Valine Helps People Reach the Next Level

    Valine: A Safe Performance Enhancer

If you’re a regular reader of our blog, you know that we offer a wide range of vitamin and supplemental injections. This is an important treatment that benefits people of all kinds of backgrounds and conditions. Some of our patients are in the course of normal aging, or have suffered an injury or have a congenital issue. But it also benefits people who are perfectly healthy, but just need something extra to reach a higher performance level and stay in the safe range of healthy activity.

    What Valine does

One of the supplements in our repertoire is Valine. As an amino acid it plays an important part in the energy chain because it gives a critical boost of glucose when a person is pushing their body past its normal limits. It also protects the muscles that are working so hard, as well as other parts of the body like the liver and gallbladder. It may even mitigate some of the consequences of alcohol use.

However, Valine is a special kind of amino acid called an “essential” amino acid. That means our bodies don’t produce it on their own. It has to come from our diet. There are many protein-based foods that do provide Valine, like meat, dairy and soy.

    Valine Deficiency

Valine deficiency is often found in people who exercise a lot but don’t eat a diet that supports their high level of activity. If you were a teenager who was very active you may remember experiencing at least one symptom of potential Valine deficiency — urine that smells like maple syrup. Its clinical name is literally “Maple Syrup Urine Disease”. This also occurs in people who are building muscle mass or simply maintaining a low protein diet.

Remember, we don’t just treat people who are experiencing poor health. We also help people unlock the next level of active, healthy living. The right supplement can be an important part of that equation. If you would like to learn more about what supplements may align with your health goals, call Dr. Ashley Hoyt at the Key West Wellness Center at 305-296-5358.

  • Glutathione: The Body’s Street Sweeper

    Glutathione: The Body’s Street Sweeper

woman_basket_vegies-1024x682People who are interested in detoxing may have heard about Glutathione injections. Glutathione is a natural detoxifier, an antioxidant that’s found in almost every cell in the body. It works to keep some of the hardest working organs like the liver, spleen and pancreas in good working order.

Cells are great storage units for energy and DNA, but they can also build up a concentration of negative influences called “free radicals”. These are byproducts of the normal stuff the body does like eating, breathing and exertion. Take your car, for example – you buy it brand new and it works great, but over time it gathers dust from the road, the oil and filter need to be changed and maybe even a part or two need to be replaced. That’s the kind of effect free radicals have on the body.

That’s where Glutathione comes in. It’s an amino acid that works to help clean the body out so harmful substances don’t stick to your insides. Glutathione supplements will help boost your ability to dispose of free radicals, repair vital systems at the cellular level, and is even thought to be very helpful in reducing the risk of developing cancer.

For aging persons or those who have recently completed a course of chemotherapy, Glutathione deficiency can be a common issue. Symptoms may include:

    • Problems with coordination
    • Tremors
    • Sustained side effects from chemotherapy

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, or would like to learn more about how Glutathione injections can help improve bodily function and reduce cancer risk, call me at the Clinic of Alternative Medicine in Key West at 305-296-5358, or use the Contact form below. We’ll schedule a time that works for you to share your concerns and get your body working for you.

  • Taking the mystery out of GAC injections

    GAC injections

GAC injections – what are they?

GAC stands for “GlutamineArginineCarinitine”. It may sound like Latin, but these are actually three separate amino acids contained in a single high performance injection. It’s a key supplement for anyone looking to lose weight, keep it off and maintain strong energy levels.

The first step in weight loss is burning fat. To help give the body a kickstart it can often be helpful to get a boost of Carinitine. As a supplement to the amount already produced by the liver and kidneys, it can help a body pick up the pace by converting more fat to energy. More energy means more fuel to burn the fat, and the process just keeps going!

The next step is Glutamine which is the most plentiful of the amino acids. If Carinitine helps break down parts of the body, Glutamine helps put them back together stronger and better than before. It makes exercise recovery more efficient which leads to better response times and endurance. Not only that, but it also converts energy stores to glycogen instead of fat, making energy much more accessible for immediate use and preventing weight gain due to fat.

The last step is Arginine. This is a speed booster for your system, assisting in increasing blood flow and affecting performance in a number of positive ways. And if you think it’ll help your exercise regime, just wait – it also gives a welcome boost to sexual performance. By raising hormone levels and facilitating blood flow, it can result in a higher sex drive and better ability to meet it.

So that’s GAC, a little acronym with big benefits. If you’re interested in weight loss, higher energy and better performance in more ways than one, GAC could be a big help.
